Charity fundraising off to a flying start

Regional law firm Bridge McFarland have got off to a great start with their charity fundraising for the year.

The Lincoln and Market Rasen branches of Bridge McFarland organised and ran a top-notch bake sale across their offices, raising an incredible £356 for the Dementia Action Alliance. The DAA is their chosen charity of the year, and they will be carrying out a range of fundraising events in the hopes of exceeding their initial target of £3,000. Staff members have also raised money by taking part in a sponsored bike ride, and the total raised is currently around the £650 mark.

The firm have three different Charity Committees; one for Lincoln and Market Rasen, one for Grimsby and Louth, and the third covering the Hull office. Each committee have their own chosen charities that they are fundraising for over the next year.

In Grimsby and Louth the chosen charity is Epilepsy Research UK, this is largely due to staff member Rachel Abba tragically losing her 22-year-old son to Epilepsy earlier this year. Rachel is planning a charity skydive to raise funds that will take place on the 2nd September. The firm also have plans for a big charity quiz in October, and a team abseil challenge to follow on later in the year.

The Hull office have chosen a charity close to their hearts – ‘Abbie’s Fund’ provide memory boxes for the parents of stillborn babies, giving them the chance to capture precious memories in the time they have with their child. They hope to raise £5,000 for the charity through a range of fundraising events, including a charity ball and a sponsored walk along the iconic Humber Bridge.
