Hull Team Proud to Support their Charity of the Year, Abbie’s Fund

Hull Team Proud to Support their Charity of the Year, Abbie’s Fund

Regional Law Firm has raised over £500 for their Charity of The Year, and they don’t plan on stopping there.

At the beginning of the financial year the Hull branch of Bridge McFarland met to decide what charity their Committee would support this year. They chose a local charity called Abbie’s Fund. The charity provides memory boxes for families who lose babies through still birth and neonatal death. These boxes include keepsakes, hand and footprint kits, blankets, teddy bears and information on what support there is for bereaved parents.

Rachel Miskin who leads on the Hull Charity Committee has said that “We are very excited to be working with Abbie’s Fund. It is a great cause close to many peoples hearts here at Bridge McFarland. The charity does amazing work in our community and is dedicated to providing support to families who have lost their babies. The charity’s memory boxes helped provide support to some of our closest friends and family who suffered the devastating loss of their child so we understand that the benefit of their boxes is huge. The boxes help the families to make memories in the short time they have with their loved one, memories they can hold onto forever. Together we hope to raise as much money as we can for the charity whilst also raising awareness and the profile of the charity. The work they do is amazing and we are proud to be able to support them.”

So far this year the team in Hull have undertaken a sponsored walk event that took them across the Humber Bridge and back, a member was sponsored to do a 100 mile bike ride, and within the offices staff have been running a ‘tuck shop’ with an honesty box, all proceeds of which are going towards their fundraising total.

In the coming weeks the team are organising a big charity bake sale, and they will be finishing their fundraising with a splendid charity ball to be held at The Country Park, Hessle Foreshore on the 27th April. The Charity Ball will be spring-themed, and tickets are due to go on sale in the next few weeks.

The team were really happy to be able to hand over the cheque for £500 to Katy, the founder of Abbie’s Fund, in their offices today. With this money Abbie’s Fund will be able to produce 20 new boxes to support bereaved parents in the Hull and District area. The team have set themselves a target of £5,000 by the end of April.

Katy, th founder of Abbie's Fund said “It’s fantastic to be working with Bridge McFarland and we’re very grateful for the huge amount of work they have already put into both their fundraising and raising awareness for Abbie’s Fund in such a short space of time. The enthusiasm for our charity from the staff is amazing and it is great for us to have this help from a local business that allows us to support families in our community at such a difficult time. We’re very much looking forward to working in partnership on the upcoming events that are planned and would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Bridge McFarland for their amazing support.”
