Staff at a Lincolnshire law firm are undertaking final preparations ahead of skydive challenge

Bridge McFarland staff have set themselves a challenging fundraising target of £5,000 for Epilepsy Research UK following a colleague losing her son to epilepsy earlier in the year. Rachel Abba, a Chartered Legal Executive from the Louth branch will be leading the dive in memory of her 22-year-old son, Rob.

The Skydive is scheduled for 8:30am on the 2nd September with spectators welcome. Catching up with Rachel ahead of the dive, she reported that though she was ‘extremely nervous’, she was also completely determined to do herself proud.

“I’m really pleased that we have already hit £4,000; All the money we raise will go to help fund more research projects– there are so many requests for funding that ERUK can only fund a very small proportion of these – the more money that is raised, the more they can do. I would also like to see more research into Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) which is what Rob died from.”

I will be really proud when we hit £5,000, and from there I plan to carry on with a new target. Sadly there will always be the need for more and more money to be raised to fund the research into Epilepsy, it’s treatments, it’s causes and sadly into SUDEP”.

The staff team at Bridge McFarland wish Rachel, Nicola Blake and Lauren Hebdon good luck with their skydive and would encourage anyone who has yet to sponsor them to visit their Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rob-abba
