Our client went to the doctors after noticing a small lump. An ultrasound scan confirmed its presence and appointments were promptly scheduled with specialists at the hospital.

With concerns over the severity of the lump it was recommended that our client undergo a surgery to remove half of their thyroid to allow specialists to examine the gland in detail. As this was the route the surgeon suggested our client felt there was no alternative choice but to accept this decision. Arrangements were made for the surgery to be carried out, and though the risks were briefly mentioned to our client, no other options were presented.

Sadly the procedure did not go to plan; it resulted in additional emergency surgery and an admission to the intensive care unit. This was a very stressful and upsetting time for our client and their family. The required recovery time was significantly longer than anticipated due to the complications, and sadly our client has been left with a number of chronic medical conditions which would not have developed but for the surgery.

We were able to achieve a six-figure-settlement for our client by means of compensation and to assist with our client’s future requirements.
