Our client underwent ankle surgery to correct a failed prosthesis. Following the surgery it was noticed that the wounds failed to heal and they were weeping.

Despite regular hospital visits, staff failed to recognise a medical issue which was limiting the blood supply to the wounds and preventing them from healing. Our Client’s wounds remained unhealed causing pain and mobility problems. An underlying disease could and should have been recognised before surgery was commenced and indeed much sooner after surgery was performed which would have avoided the serious post-operative complications experienced. Instead our client faced multiple hospital admissions, additional surgery, extended periods of time off work and significantly painful scarring. Due to the extent of all issues faced we were able to secure a compensation settlement in excess of £30,000 to contribute towards reimbursement.

FAQs
What is medical negligence?
Medical Negligence is when a medical practitioner such as a doctor, nurse, midwife, dentist or an institutional health provider breaches his or its duty of care to you and you are injured as a result of that breach.
How can I find out if medical treatment was negligent?
During the investigations of your clinical negligence claim we will be required to obtain disclosure of all relevant medical records - both hospital and GP - in the manner set out in the pre-action protocols. Once all of the relevant medical records have been received they will be considered on a preliminary basis. They will then be sent to an independent expert nurse who will index and paginate the records to ensure that they are in some semblance of order.
