Local Firm Dedicated to Supporting Bereaved Families Accredited by the Foundation for Infant Loss

Law Firm Bridge McFarland Solicitors have undertaken the training programme to ensure that their clients are as well supported as possible. The training programme is committed to providing first class education in Infant Loss and Bereavement.

The Foundation for Infant Loss was set up by Chantel Lockey, a bereaved mother who was determined to ensure that families who suffer the loss of an infant were suitably supported. Chantal is now an international trainer and consultant.

Law Firm Bridge McFarland Solicitors have undertaken the training programme to ensure that their clients are as well supported as possible. The training programme is committed to providing first class education in Infant Loss and Bereavement. The Foundation for Infant Loss offers study days across the world as well as a distance learning course in Pregnancy and Infant Loss. Both courses are award winning and have been internationally accredited.

Head of the medical negligence team in Hull, Lorraine Taylor, was proud to lead on the roll out of training to staff “As a firm we do everything we can to ensure that our clients feel supported and understood. Losing a child or a pregnancy is devastating for the whole family, and unfortunately we do see many instances where outcomes could have been different had medical intervention been taken. Due to the nature of these cases, I felt it was extremely important to ensure that our staff had the training they need to provide the necessary and appropriate support and guidance.”

“We look forward to working with Chantal and her team in the future, they do so much good for bereaved families and we are proud to have been accredited under their scheme.”

This comes a week after Baby Loss Awareness Week. A collaboration of more than 60 charities across the UK, Baby Loss Awareness Week is held from 9 to 15 October to raise awareness about the key issues affecting those who have experienced pregnancy loss or baby death in the UK.

Bridge McFarland also work with Abbie’s Fund to help provide support for bereaved families in East Yorkshire. The Firm was glad to support the 2018 ‘Global Wave of Light’ on the 15th October, lighting candles to remember the babies that have died too soon.

“This campaign does so much good – talking about the loss of a pregnancy or baby can be extremely difficult for families, to the point where people don’t realise just how many people are personally affected.”
