Lincoln Office

Risk & Compliance Solicitor
Closing Date: 12th July, 2019
Location: Lincoln
Salary: DOE

We are looking to recruit a Risk & Compliance Solicitor to join our Risk & Compliance team in Lincoln.

You must:

  • Be a qualified solicitor (or equivalent) or close to admission as a solicitor (or equivalent)
  • Have a good working knowledge of:
    - The SRA Handbook
    - At least one area of law in which Bridge McFarland LLP practices
    - Data Protection and Anti Money Laundering legislation
  • Have the ability to quickly research, understand and report on areas outside of main area of expertise

Key duties will include the day to day running of the Firm’s Risk & Compliance department to include:

  • Updating the Firm’s Client Care documentation to ensure compliance at all times.
  • Implementing and updating the Firm’s Risk & Compliance policies, including the Staff Handbook and Business Continuity Plan
  • Ensuring compliance with the Firm’s Risk & Compliance policies
  • Initial review and due diligence of all Outsourcing, Third Party Agreements and ad hoc contracts
  • Implementation and ongoing review of all Outsourcing and Third Party Agreements
  • Managing and responding to complaints and claims received by the Firm
  • Analysis of data including complaints, claims, sleeping matters, client balances and conducting face to face meetings with Fee Earners
  • Preparation of reports including those for monthly Risk Committee meetings, Departmental Meetings and Management Board Reports
  • Managing relationship and obligations with SRA, ICO, Insurers and LEO
  • Managing obligations with the Legal Aid Agency, including contract tendering, complying with audits and managing relationship with Contract Manager
  • Renewal of the Firm’s professional insurances (PII, Commercial Combined, D&O)
  • Assisting and reporting to the Firm’s COLP & COFA
  • Review of website content
  • Responding to queries received from members of staff relating to the SRA Handbook, policies and procedures, Data Protection legislation, AML Legislation, etc.
  • Introduction of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changes to legislation / regulation.

Excellent IT and communication skills are essential, combined with the ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain a positive helpful attitude.
